Dog-Friendly Restaurants & Patios in Metro Detroit (2026)

Your dog came along on the RiverWalk, so why not bring them to brunch too? These Metro Detroit restaurants, cafes and breweries welcome dogs on their patios, and some go further with water bowls, pup menus and heated patios. Every spot is also pinned on our Dog Fun Map (look for the terracotta pins).

Before you go: Patio dog policies change with the seasons. Many patios close or shrink in cold weather, and managers can change the rules. Call ahead or check the venue’s site before you bring your pup, and keep your dog leashed, on the ground, and out of walkways.

Good to know in Michigan: Pet dogs are generally allowed only on approved outdoor patios at Michigan restaurants, not in indoor dining rooms (service animals are always welcome). A few taprooms do allow dogs inside, and we note those below.
